The Basic Hamstring Movements

These movements are designed to Release and relax the hamstrings (the muscles in back of the thighs). When executed correctly the release is felt from the lower back all the way down to the back of the knees.

There are four variations to these Movements. For the moment we will study the first . This is initiated from Working Position #8 also known as The Basic Figure. The first of these movements Hamstrings One is illustrated to the left and is executed in the following manner: 1) Place yourself in Working Position #8 with feet together. 2) Squeeze thighs, pull in the belly and slightly bend both knees on the count of two. Straighten knees and move back to figure 1 on the count of two and repeat movement as advised.
