Hip/Thigh Muscles #2


The first muscle group on this page of interest to us is: 1)Vastus intermedius, 2) Vastus medialis and 3) Vastus Lateralis. These are the principle muscles that holds everything together in Working position #3

The other muscles illustrated; 4/ Quadriceps femoris-Rectus femoris. Extends the leg on the thighs and flexes thighs at the hip joint. 5/ Iliacus. Flexes thighs at the hip joint and if thighs are fixed flexes the trunk on the thighs. 6/ Gracilis7/ Quadratus lumborum. Flexes vertebral column laterally.We will learn more about all of these muscles as we move along through the Basic Balance Movement Series.
